About Shazazzy

Identity
into sound.

Shazazzy exists at the intersection of heritage, technology, and emotional resonance -- transforming personal data into a deeply individualized listening experience.

The mission

Music discovery is broken. Streaming platforms optimize for engagement metrics, not personal meaning. They surface what's popular, what's trending, what keeps you scrolling -- not what genuinely connects to who you are.

Shazazzy takes a fundamentally different approach. Instead of starting with your listening history, we start with your identity -- the cultural lineage encoded in your DNA. By combining genetic ancestry insights with cultural music data, Shazazzy generates playlists aligned with the rhythms, regions, and influences embedded in your heritage.

The result isn't just music discovery. It's musical recognition.

What defines Shazazzy

Identity-Driven

Rooted in ancestry and cultural lineage. Your playlist starts with who you are, not what's trending.

Emotionally Intelligent

Designed to feel personal, not algorithmic. Music that resonates on a level you can feel but can't quite explain.

Playful but Precise

Bold, modern, and science-backed. Serious technology wrapped in an experience that feels effortless.

Music-First

Discovery without complexity. No jargon, no dashboards, no learning curve. Just press play.

The science behind the sound

Ethnomusicology has long established that music is shaped by geography, migration, and cultural practice. Scales, rhythms, and instrumental traditions aren't random -- they're artifacts of the communities that created them.

Shazazzy's algorithm maps these musical characteristics to their geographic and cultural origins, creating a graph of relationships between regions and their sonic signatures. When your ancestry data enters the system, we cross-reference your composition against this graph to identify the music most aligned with your heritage.

The weighting isn't binary. A user who is 35% West African and 28% Northern European won't receive two separate playlists. Instead, the algorithm finds artists and tracks that naturally bridge those sonic worlds -- creating a cohesive experience that reflects the full complexity of your identity.

Privacy by design

We understand the sensitivity of genetic data. That's why Shazazzy was built with privacy as a foundational principle, not an afterthought.

What we read

Only ancestry composition percentages -- the same summary you see on your testing provider's dashboard.

What we never access

Raw genetic sequences, health markers, carrier status, or any identifiable genetic data.

Encryption

All data is encrypted in transit and at rest using AES-256 encryption standards.

Your control

Delete all your data at any time with a single click. No retention. No exceptions.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a DNA test to use Shazazzy?

Yes. Shazazzy requires ancestry composition data from a supported testing provider (23andMe, AncestryDNA, MyHeritage, or others). We don't perform genetic testing ourselves.

Which DNA testing services are supported?

We support all major providers that export ancestry composition data, including 23andMe, AncestryDNA, MyHeritage, and FamilyTreeDNA. More providers will be added at launch.

Is my genetic data safe?

We only read ancestry percentages -- never raw genetic data. All data is encrypted, never sold, and can be deleted permanently at any time.

Can I export my playlist?

Yes. At launch, you'll be able to export playlists directly to Spotify, Apple Music, and other major streaming platforms.
